Life is Fragile

Friday, September 5th, 2003

I don’t normally like to get into heavy subjects on Fridays, but this is an exception. When someone you know and care about has a traumatic experience in his/her life, you tend to re-evaluate things. Suddenly, everything you thought of as ‘important’ or ‘necessary’ suddenly isn’t so.

A good friend of mine’s boyfriend is in the hospital. He had a brain aneurism that sent him into convulsions while they were out for their one year anniversary. Tomorrow night he’ll have marked two-weeks in the hospital.

He hasn’t woken up yet, and he’s making incremental progress. Say a prayer for him please, and tell someone you love how much you care for them, because you may not have another time to do so.

I’m doing what I can to help. You can help in the following ways:
-Perform a random act of kindness to a stranger, and don’t tell anyone
-Smile whenever you see someone.. it’s free, and it may make someone’s day
-Save your money - you’ll never know when you’ll need it

Alright, now I’ll move to something else..

I’m on schedule to be debt-free by October 15th. I enjoy the freedom of not having the 24 hour pager. I like simple things like library books, cleaning my apartment, and cooking. Bizarre, I know.

I have 3 dollars ’til next pay period, and it’s awkward because I need to buy flowers for my sister’s birthday. I’m not sure how I’ll work this out. The Gravity Games are coming to Cleveland, so I have that to distract me next week, and they provide free food.

I just keep telling myself - One Month, ten days, debt-free. It’s like a really long version of 99 bottles of beer on the wall.. :)

After the Gravity Games I can start working at Buca Di Beppo. I will be cleaning house this weekend, reading the paper, enjoying the library’s DVD collection, and will try to sell one of the computers I acquired.

Have a great weekend everyone..
